Exploring Music Beyond the Canon

Artistic Vision

My work centers on performance, education, and artistic discovery. Through concerts, recordings, and teaching, I seek to explore music beyond the traditional canon and bring underrepresented voices to new audiences.

As both a performer and educator, I am committed to fostering meaningful musical experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and deeper engagement with the art of music. Whether presenting established masterworks or championing overlooked repertoire, I believe music has the power to connect people across cultures, generations, and perspectives.

Featured Project

Breaking My Silence

Breaking My Silence is a recording project that explores the piano works of five influential women composers: Ethel Smyth, Henriëtte Bosmans, Jennifer Higdon, Eve Beglarian, and Annea Lockwood.

Developed as part of my doctoral research, the project combines performance, scholarship, and artistic advocacy to bring greater visibility to voices that have often been overlooked in classical music. Through recordings, research, and public engagement, Breaking My Silence seeks to expand the piano repertoire and encourage new perspectives on music history, representation, and artistic discovery.

Welcome to MusYi

At MusYi, we believe music should be inspiring, joyful, and deeply personal.

Every student learns differently, and every musical journey is unique. Our lessons combine professional training with creativity, curiosity, and encouragement, helping students build confidence while developing strong musical foundations.

Whether preparing for NYSSMA, ABRSM, competitions, performances, or simply learning for the love of music, we believe the best learning happens when students feel motivated, supported, and excited to grow.

Because music isn't just about playing the right notes—it's about discovering your own voice.
